We stayed here for 6 days in room 3 on the top floor It was a perfect location for visiting the city and taking day trips.
Size: Although the apartment is a bit on the small side (as apartments go), it was bigger than most hotel rooms. The rooms on the street side are a bit larger. At least the couch in the kitchen is more accessible. However we thought the rooms on the parking side would be quieter and that was more important to us. The balconies on the top floor are smaller than the middle floor but again we preferred the quieter top floor as there would be no one walking above us.
Location: The apartment is on the south side of the city about 15-20 minute walk to the 3 bridges in the heart of the old town. There are several different routes you can take into town and so we varied our walk. I would recommend the river walk one time and the krakovo neighborhood the next. For either way make your way to St John's Church. To get to the river follow the stream to the right. To get to krakovo cross the stream and continue on. The hotel is also very convenient for day trips. We ignored our sat nav which wanted to take us through the old town and headed south to the highway that rings the city. We also came back this way. It's very quick and convenient. The nearest restaurant we found was the Gostilna Pod Vrbo only 2 blocks away. They serve traditional slovenian food. They have good TA reviews. We enjoyed it.
Staff: The staff were very friendly and very accomodating with our late and untimable arrival. The staff is not onsight though they do have a small office there for checkins. There is a phone where you can call there other hotel where there is staff. This was handy and they were always available and prompt the few times we needed something. They gave us a great overview of the city. If you can take the walking tour they recommend. In an hour and a half you'll get the whole history of the city and see the main sites downtown.
Quiet: This is almost always a key factor in where we stay. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood and yet only 1 short block from the road that takes you directly to the highway. Room 3 is on the farside of the building from this road so we got no road noise. Even outside the building it did not seem noisy. The hotel is small and solidly built so quiet. We did not get noise through the walls or from the hall. Each room has a small entry way that you can shut off which provides another buffer to the hall but wasn't needed. There are only 2 apartments per floor in a 3 story building. The first floor has a single apartment. So a total of 5 apartments. So not alot of people to make sound. The balconies could be a source of noise, but we were lucky and no one sat out late.
Amenities: The kitchen was perfectly adequate. The grocery store is a 3-5 minute walk. The hours quite limited on weekends so ask at checkin for the hours if you need to shop. Another nice feature was a washer and dryer in a separate building located on the grounds. Although we never did figure out how to get the dryer to stay on until the clothes were dry, we appreciated being able to wash clothes a few nights.
